The Government of Telangana has signed a groundbreaking agreement with Australia’s Deakin University to set up the country’s first dedicated Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative will be part of the upcoming AI University at Future City, Hyderabad, marking a major step toward positioning Telangana as a global leader in AI-driven innovation.
This milestone was featured by Telangana Rising, a platform that highlights the state’s progressive initiatives.


Key Highlights of the Agreement

Centre of Excellence in AI will focus on developing globally competitive, highly skilled professionals.
Targeted sectors include governance, healthcare, education, IT, life sciences, agriculture, critical minerals, and rare earth metals.
The Deakin Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute will jointly operate the Centre with Telangana, ensuring advanced skill development and cutting-edge research.
Australia will provide high-end training programs for working professionals from Telangana.

This collaboration aligns with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision of attracting leading international universities to Telangana, strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem and positioning it as a gateway for Digital India.
IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla emphasized that this partnership goes beyond traditional academic programs, creating a platform for industry-ready talent and applied research in AI.
